Celebrating 10 Years at Bamboo Detroit

September 1, 2023

Dear Community,

Next week we celebrate ten years as an organization.

We started as an idea between four friends who needed a place to go to work together. Back then, people would come into Bamboo and ask us if we were a library, not knowing what coworking was just yet in Detroit.

After moving, growing to our second location, and operating during a difficult pandemic season, we feel immense gratitude as a team to be here ten years later with you.

Bamboo's founding team with Mayor Duggan and Sharon Madison.
The first Bamboo space was 2,000 sq ft and served 100 small businesses.

*Our first home was 2,000 sq ft on Brush Street, we built a community of 100 members here.

In these ten years, our team planned over 500 events and hosted hundreds more. We’ve welcomed thousands of guests through our doors. Some members have met and gotten married, others have found a co-founder or joined up with another team. Almost everyone we served has made a connection, learned something new, and enjoyed being part of our vibrant community.

We’ve also come a long way transforming historic spaces into new spaces for creativity and collaboration.

And we just wanted to take a moment to say - thank you! Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey, and for being a part of ours. We can’t wait to continue to grow with you in the next decade ahead.

We hope to celebrate with you at our 10 year anniversary party this week in Detroit.

Best
