How Bamboo is Supporting Community During Covid-19

Bamboo
March 18, 2020

Now, more than ever, we face economic uncertainty in Metro Detroit as our world slows down. We are often reminded during these times the importance of supporting one another and finding our community.

Bamboo’s team will be temporarily pausing facility access through April 5th with hopes of doing our part to support the greater slow down strategy for Covid-19. Many of our services will continue and also evolve to better help our many local small business and startup members at this time.

Below is an update from our team on how we are supporting our members.

For Current Bamboo Members:

Complimentary Mail Forwarding Available. Members are invited to opt-in to receive  complimentary mail forwarding for essential mail items including paychecks, government forms, etc. at this time. Each week our team will forward mail to preferred addresses to members who opt-in. Please check your email for the option to opt in or contact us directly at info@bamboodetroit.com or (313) 766-0134 to set your account up.

Free Virtual Workshops are Live for Members. At Bamboo, a key part of our community is hosting frequent networking and educational events. All of our planned workshops and events are now available virtual through March and April. Members get free tickets to these online workshops and can register the same way as before by checking our website, and registering through Eventbrite. About 24 hours in advance, a link to a zoom account for participation will be sent out to those who registered. We’re also actively talking to members to identify other subjects and local experts that are most helpful to you. Tickets are also available for sale for non-members. Check out our website for the most recent updates.

Bamboo’s Virtual Community.  Bamboo has two online communities for members to connect: an active Facebook group and a Bamboo Coworkers slack.  On Slack, we have separate channels devoted to unite and support each other through Covid-19. Members are always encouraged to participate and connect with our team there too.

Curating Covid-19 Support Resources. Our team is curating accurate information and resources such as webinars, loans, grants, and local important updates to help you stay informed and supported at this time. These will be shared through our regular communications channels for members.

For New or Interested Bamboo Members

Virtual Offices Memberships Are Available. Virtual memberships are available at this time for those seeking to set up a Downtown Detroit mailbox and access to our community. We know many  businesses are born from economic changes, and this membership is often best for those just starting or those also seeking to be Detroit based for grants and other services offered by the City of Detroit. These also include meeting room credits and day passes  during normal operations.

Virtual Facility Q&A Sessions Can Be Booked Here. While we seek to postpone in person facility tours for a while, you can select a time to speak with our team who is ready and available to answer your questions on membership and space. We will be offering virtual sessions with our manager and CEO to discuss long-term or short-term office and facility requests. We look forward to being available to answer your questions and prepare any plans you need.

While we pause with the rest of our anchor institutions here in Detroit, we know that now is the time to continue supporting each other most. Thank you for working together with our team to continue to provide these services and support one another.
