Come meet with Kiva Detroit and learn how their micro-lending platform works! Kiva Detroit small business owners in the tri-county area get the financing they need to grow and create jobs for their local communities. Kiva Detroit is made possible in partnership with local community groups and Kiva's Trustee partners working together to connect Kiva lenders to entrepreneurs that they know and trust in their communities.

Cassie Coravos is the Capital Programs Manager and Kiva Lead at Build Institute, where she meets one on one with small business owners around Detroit to coach them through the process of getting crowdfunded micro-loans. She previously worked at the Delta Lab, conducting research on social capital in crowdfunding and developed an educational curriculum to support crowdfunders on storytelling and making effective crowdfunding videos. She is also the founder of Jiang China Design, a human-centered design and entrepreneurship bootcamp for college students in China. Before joining the Build team, she worked with The Empowerment Plan as a Venture for America fellow. She is involved in the community as a founding member of Open IDEO Detroit, a community design organization, and a collaborator of The Forge Detroit, an artist residency in Northwest Detroit. Cassie has a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing and Design Engineering from Northwestern University.
