Terrence J.L. Reeves
Terrence J.L. Reeves is a member of Taft’s nationally recognized Venture Capital Group in the firm’s Ann Arbor office. He represents a wide variety of clients, ranging from tech startups getting their first round of funding to Fortune 500 companies in $500M+ transactions. Terrence assists start-ups, emerging companies and venture capital funds through all stages of financings and exit transactions and leverages his experience as a co-founder and consultant to deliver value-adding legal solutions at the intersection of risk awareness (business, financial and legal), competitive advantage and growth.
Terrence was previously a co-founder of angel backed tech startup, Networkingout, and Run This Town. Terrence is an active advisor and coach with the New Enterprise Forum (NEF) and TechTown Detroit, and is an affiliate of the IrishAngels.
Terrence received his B.S. in political science, with a minor in business, from Eastern Michigan University and his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School, where his studies focused on corporate law. He also earned an M.B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business.
Tom is an attorney in Taft’s top tier and nationally recognized Venture Capital Practice Group and is the office leader of Taft’s Ann Arbor, MI office. Tom assists both start-up companies and venture capital funds with a variety of corporate transactions, including all stages of growth financings as well as exit transactions. Tom works with start-up companies through the entire life cycle of business development, including strategic counseling at the ideation stage, investor matching, venture financings, commercial contracts, software licensing, equity incentive planning, and joint venture transactions.
Civically, Tom serves as an advisor and mentor to numerous entrepreneurial programs - The Brandery, OCEAN Accelerator, Desai Accelerator and TechArb Student Venture Accelerator. He serves on the Board of Directors of Intermitten, an annual conference in Ann Arbor, Michigan designed to showcase the intersection of creativity and technology. He is also a frequent speaker on entrepreneurship and venture capital related matters throughout the region.
Tom received his bachelor’s degree in psychology with minors in markets and management and political science from Duke University. In 2012, he graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. During law school, he served as a student attorney for the University of Michigan Entrepreneurial Legal Clinic, where he counseled early-stage, high-growth businesses.
